The first non-fiction, political book written by Alastair Campbell, was “The Blair Years” published in 2007. He has gone on to write fifteen other books, four novels, entitled, “All in the Mind” in 2008, “Maya” in 2010, “My Name is…” in 2013 and “Saturday Bloody Saturday” in 2018. Then in 2012 after struggling with his own Mental Health issues he wrote the non-fiction book entitled “The Happy Depressive.” This book was a cathartic exercise in expressing how mental health issues can affect anyone and brought into the public’s eye the need to talk openly and honestly about depression and anxieties. Then in 2015 and 2020 he went on to write two further non-fiction books entitled, “Winners” and “Living Better”.
During his years with Tony Blair in Downing street, Alistair Campbell not only spoke for the Labour Party but wrote several Diary volumes alluding to what went on behind closed doors there. “Prelude to Power” was written in 2010, quickly followed by “Power and the People” and “Power and Responsibility” in 2011. “The Burden of Power” was published in 2012, “Never Really Left” in 2016, “From Blair to Brown, 2005-2007” in 2017, “From Crash to Defeat” 2018 and “Outside Inside” in 2021.
