Enjoy a Camping Trip in the Scottish Wilderness

Pitching up a tent and sleeping under the stars is one of life’s greatest pleasures. Especially after so many months being locked in our homes, it is really lovely to be able to get back out and about and spend time enjoying the great outdoors, and it is one of the best ways to stay safe and maintain social distancing whilst enjoying a holiday – no packing onto crowded planes or busy beaches – take a tent and head off to the wilderness.

The main thing to remember is to have all the equipment that you need  – for example, if you are planning on scaling some mountainous terrain, you will need rock climbing shoes Ireland based shop Basecamp can provide you with these.

Heading off to the Scottish Highlands is one of the best places to enjoy camping – whether you want to climb to the dizzy heights of Ben Nevis, take in some scenic nature walks across the expansive moors, where you may be able to spot red squirrels, otters and deer to name but a few, or to see some of Scotland’s famous man-made sights and architecture – Glenfinnan viaduct and Urquhart Castle are just two of the iconic places that are on everyone’s Scotland bucket list.

When camping in the Highlands, be aware that the weather can be unpredictable, so make sure that you are packed for every season – as even in the summer, it can range from very warm, to torrential downpours. As well as this, you may need protection from insects as during the summer midges can be a real annoyance.

Despite this, Scotland is one of the most stunningly beautiful places to enjoy camping, and to really feel at one with nature, Scotland is the place to do it.
