What are the alternatives to laminate flooring?

The flooring you choose for your home has a huge impact on the feel of a room.

The Guardian has some good ideas on different flooring options and we discuss some great alternatives to flooring your home with laminate below.

Real wood

In recent years, laminate flooring has been very popular, but there are other options. Solid wood – ‘the real thing’ – is an obvious one, though it doesn’t come cheaply. People often choose it for its natural aesthetic beauty and long life. It’s hard-wearing but not completely damage-proof.

Engineered hardwood

Engineered hardwood is an ‘in-between’ option. It has the same natural look as solid hard wood flooring, but at a significantly lower cost because it is not solid. The planks are layered and only the top is solid wood, bonded to several layers of ply.

Luxury vinyl tile

Luxury vinyl tile (LVT) is a great option and is growing in popularity. It looks like real wood, although the appearance is achieved through a photographic film layer, with a top coat of polyurethane to improve durability. LVT has additional benefits in that it is much quieter than laminate or real wood, which is perfect for busy families or for use in flats.

For expert advice on all types of wood flooring, contact a specialist retailer such as Wood Floor Warehouse https://www.woodfloorwarehouse.ie/laminate-flooring.html.

Of course, no flooring choice has to be permanent, so if you change your mind you can always replace it and go for something completely different.
