The answer is yes and no. While hereditary hair loss is the most common type of hair loss, it is not necessarily linked to heredity. It is in fact caused by various causes.

Some causes of hair loss problems are due to genetic inheritance, whereas other causes are due to hormonal imbalance, poor diet and vitamin deficiency, stress and trauma. Other causes of genetic hair loss include chemotherapy, radiation therapy for cancer and stress. On the other hand, some causes of hair loss problems occur as a result of severe stress or traumatic events such as losing a loved one.

Your doctor can run a blood test that will determine if you do have any hereditary hair loss problems. If you do, you may be advised to take certain medications to reduce the effects of DHT. If this does not work, you can look at Scalp Micropigmentation to help with the appearance of the hair loss and in most cases this also helps with the individuals confidence.
