Tips For Enjoying Student Life

You may have heard people saying how their university days were the best days of their life, or how university is where you meet your best friends for life, even your life partner. This can make some new students feel a lot of pressure to make these their reality. If they don’t enjoy university, it can make them feel as though they are doing something wrong, or worse, that something is wrong with them. The truth is that university is what you make of it, but if you don’t enjoy it or don’t meet any potential best friends, there is nothing wrong with you. Make ‘something better is waiting’ your mantra. If you don’t have a great time at uni, it’s because the best days of your life have yet to come. However, to help you get off to a good start to uni, here are some tips for enjoying student life.

Don’t put pressure on yourself to be happier than you ever have been, or the best in your class, the most sociable or, if you are a perfectionist, to be perfect. Allow yourself to feel the vulnerability of moving away from home for the first time, being in a completely new environment with new people, and new things to learn socially and of course, academically. Try your best at whatever you do, but always keep in mind what’s important: your mental and physical well-being.

Stress is probably the most common thing students experience, yet everyone thinks they’re the only one feeling it. To reduce your stress levels, try to organise your time as efficiently as possible, so don’t overbook yourself! Learn to say ‘no’. Create a budget, and do not overspend.
