RunIQ: The new clock designed for runners and created by runners

The big names in footwear and sportswear have been able to get on the sports car: if Under Armor allied with HTC to launch their line of wearables and Adidas has given the witness to Runtastic in their runner community, now it’s up to them the turn to New Balance, who today presented his first smartwatch designed for runners and created by runners: the new RunIQ. You can see some details of the presentation in Madrid in our Instagram Stories.

This new smartwatch brings together a great alliance: the technology company Intel, the multinational Google, the social network of athletes Strava and the firm New Balance have come together to give life to this watch specially designed for the runners.

Technical characteristics

The new RunIQ watch monitors each of our race trainings, giving us real-time data like our pace or heart rate (measured with an optical sensor at the wrist). It has built-in GPS (it does not use the GPS of the mobile, so we can run only with our watch) and allows us to listen to music through Google Play (Android devices only).

It also functions as a quantizer device that we can use all day, counting our steps and receiving notifications from our phone on the same screen of the clock.

It has a touch screen with technology AMOLED, connectivity WIFI and Bluetooth, and is submersible up to 5ATM, so we can practice swimming with him.

Perhaps its weakest point is its battery: it has a range of 24 hours with a normal use and only 5 hours in the race . This would force us to charge it every day (a full charge takes about two hours).

Perhaps the most notable advantage of RunIQ is the direct connection with Strava, the favorite social network of many athletes. Through this integration, once we finish our training this will automatically upload to the social network.

PaceIQ: Wireless sports earphones

Along with the RunIQ watch, this morning also featured the new PaceIQ wireless sports headphones, with premium sound and safety adjustment. They are integrated with the RunIQ watch through its “sport” button, which gives us the option to receive real-time information with our race data.

The main advantage of these headphones is its good fit to the ear, its high quality sound and, without doubt, its possibility of fast charging : with 15 minutes of charge we will get enough battery to use them for a full hour.

In addition, they have controls with which we can answer calls and manage the music of our watch or mobile, integrated microphone and possibility to connect to two devices simultaneously (to, for example, connect to the clock and mobile).
